MUZAFFARABAD – Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif has criticised the chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Altaf Hussain, for supporting a dictatorial regime for 11 years.
During a public rally in Muzaffarabad on Sunday, wherein he formally announced to form the PML-N in Azad Jammu Kashmir, Nawaz slammed Altaf, saying those talking of a revolution should not have supported a dictator for 11 years.
Nawaz asked, “Why were 50 people killed in Karachi when the chief justice of Pakistan arrived in the city on May 12, 2007?” He said was it a revolution that an MQM MNA “is murdered in London and in return hundreds are killed in Karachi”. The PMl-N chief said he was a friend of Pakistan, not President Asif Ali Zardari.
Nawaz said the PML-N was a revolutionary party and he himself was an innovative person. “The PML-N is a sign of revolution,” he added. However, MQM leader Raza Haroon responded the PML-N chief’s statement, saying “May God heal Nawaz Sharif.”
“It appears that a ‘lucky draw’ of tigers has jumped out in the name of a jackal,” Haroon said. He said no one had been murdered in Karachi after the assassination of Dr Imran Farooq. “Nawaz wishes to be the prime minister, wants his brother to be the chief minister and wants to see his family members occupying assembly seats,” Haroon added.
