Misbah wins The Cricketer magazine award

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been named as the Overseas Test Player of the Year by The Cricketer magazine in its annual awards. Misbah took the prestigious award after scoring 632 runs in six Test matches at an average of 90.28 over the past 12 months, combining outstanding personal form with authority and leadership as the new captain of a young Pakistan side.
And in a surprise selection he is joined in the magazine’s Test Team of the Year by left arm spinner Abdur Rehman, who took 29 wickets at 31.82 over the same six Test period. The Cricketer awards are based on average marks out of ten awarded by the magazine’s writers who covered all Tests in the period. Misbah averaged 7.33 out of a possible 10, while Abdur impressed with a score of 6.83, placing him ahead of international spin bowling rivals Harbhajan Singh (6.58) and Graeme Swann (6.17).
