Alleged fraudsters’ plea rejected

An accountability court on Tuesday dismissed three identical application filed by Asif Ali Faiz involved in three different cases regarding fraud in Pakistan Customs, seeking acquittal in the references. According to details, in 2005, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed three different references against Faiz, main accused in the customs fraud scam, who had misappropriated department’s funds at a massive scale. During the trial, the accused filed three identical application under section 265-K CrPC seeking his acquittal in all of the three references.
The accused submitted in his application that he had been involved in the said references wrongly and that was why NAB authorities could not prove anything against him even after five years due to which the court might acquit him in the references declaring him innocent.
