Punjab Health Department Drug Inspectors Team has conducted raids in five different places in Lahore and recovered unregistered and substandard drugs worth millions of rupees. The team sealed the premises, and FIRs were lodged against 10 persons in their respective police stations. Drug Inspector Chief (CDI) Moazzam Khan said the team raided a factory in Mohallah Chirimaran, inside Lohari Gate, and had taken huge quantities of unregistered and spurious drugs into custody. The team had also seized packing material and an FIR was registered against Muhammad Atif and Muhammad Ashfaq, and the premises were sealed. Drug inspectors raided another factory in Yousaf Park Shahdara and recovered huge quantity of medicines without labels, loose tablets worth lacs, and arrested Muhammad Jamil.
CDI further said the Health Department team had also raided the Medi Rose Pharma in Salamatpura Area, and recovered Hyocine tablets, Vitamin-C tablets in large quantities and had registered an FIR against Muhammad Fayyaz, Zeshan Niaz, Samiullah and Basit Hussain. He added that the drug inspectors had also raided Allegro Laboratories Harbanspura and Phytech Neutracentical Laboratories Chungi Amer Sidhu and had recovered huge quantities of such medicines and arrested three persons: Wasim Akram, Muhammad Salim Iqbal and Muhammad Hussain.
Moazzam Khan said all accused persons had been handed over to the respective police stations and FIRs had been lodged against them under offense of manufacturing and sale of spurious and unregistered drugs. He said the confiscated medicines included Amoxil injections, Ampiclox injections, Neuromet tablets, Lincocin capsules, Hyocine tablets, Maxibal tablets, Corel tablets, Vega tablets and Eloitric tablets, etc.
