LAHORE – Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Ch Shujaat Hussain and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday agreed to extend their friendly relations in the larger interest of the country.
PML-Q chief visited Khan on Saturday for a meeting that lasted for more than two hours. Talking to reporters after the meeting Shujaat said the PML-Q could form an alliance with the PTI on issues of national interests. Praising the PTI chairman, Shujaat said even Khan’s political opponents could not find faults with his honest and committed character.
He said that PML-Q would further strengthen ties with Khan’s party to make joint efforts to foil conspiracies that wanted to create unrest in the political scenario. “We wish to work together for creating a culture of neat and clean politics,” he added.
PTI chairman Khan said he was happy to greet Shujaat at his residence, saying only PML-Q was playing the role of a real opposition at the moment. Commenting on his meeting with the PML-Q chief, Khan said doors should always remain open in politics and healthy discussions always bore fruit. To a question, both leaders said meetings between the PML-Q and PTI would continue to discuss national issues.
They vowed to continue efforts for the elimination of corruption and to bring prosperity in the country. Political pundits said the meeting was an important breakthrough and could help form new alliances. This also means that the PML-Q will extend its support to Khan to play his role in national politics.
