The Shafi Burfat-led Jeay Sindh Muttahida Mahaz (JSMM) staged a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club on Saturday against “Pakistani intelligence agencies’ promotion of religious extremism in the world”.
Party leaders including Adnan Makhdoom and Sarkash Gabol supported the economic sanctions that the US might impose on Pakistan.
They claimed that Pakistan’s state institutions are promoting religious extremism in the world by supporting the Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba and other religious groups. “But we want to make it clear that Sindhis are against extremism and support the international community on the issue,” they added.
The speakers also appealed to the international community to extend its political and diplomatic support to the nationalist movement of Sindh.
