General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani is the most powerful man in Pakistan, according to top US military commander Mike Mullen, who said that the army chief controls the military-run ISI, which supports terror groups like Haqqani network and LeT, using them as proxies.
The depiction of Kayani as the most powerful man in Pakistan was made by Mullen, who was long considered to be the closest friend of Pakistani generals in an interview to the popular National Public Radio (NPR).
Mullen, who hangs his fighting boots at the end of this month, said that Kayani wanted a secure border on both sides of Pakistan.
“In many discussions I’ve had with him, he would much rather have a stable, peaceful environment on both his borders than the one he has right now,” Mullen said in response. Mullen said further he would not change a word of his testimony.

  1. Kayani had to fill the power vacuum. He only heads a very powerful machine. Imagine, army can have son of a JCO as its Chief, if he deserves but no one, not even a first-rank leader of PPP, PML (A-Z), ANP etc. can think of becoming party head in normal times. This position is reserved for scions of the ruling elite, whether they deserve it or not. That makes the army the powerful machine and let it have the best of men. That is the reason that even a COAS like JK was the most powerful man of his times, but too principled to defy the elected government and its idiot power-drunk PM.

  2. all war based on deception. (sun tzu) the war on terror is great deception for people of U.S. and who look for piece through war.in indirect method U.S always need support of Pakistan army. never forget a lost lesson of vietnam. the commander is top essential along with heaven and earth and disciple and moral.

  3. Gen Kayani and Gen Pasha are well respected. Pakistan Forces (Army, Air Force & Navy) are well disciplined organisations. Pakistan army is not a stand alone structure. It is the people of Pakistan from every walk of life and from every social stratum which make Pakistan Army. You have rightly said that this organisation has provided the opportunity to the son of a Junior Commissioned Office (JCO) or to be precise the son of a non -commissioned officer to rise to the top. The political partied in Pakistan and for that matter India as well do not have that level of appreciation of talent and hard work. This organisation is not against any one but works for Pakistan. It would like to see a healthy mutually trusting and an equal partnership with US Army and Air force. Having said this I don't believe t controls every thing or it can control every thing in Pakistan. It is just not possible. Pakistan Army works for the people of Pakistan and that is why it is loved. We thank you Gen Kayani and also thank you Gen Pasha. Long Live Pakistan

  4. We must support and respect our Army Chief and ISI…they are te best people we have defending our country. The US can never control and win the hearts of people Afghanistan with less than 150,000 troops(perhaps military is not the solution too)..there would be bloodshed of civilians as long as they are there. Long live Pakistan Army
