USAID to announce package for flood victims

The USAID would announce a package for the flood-affected areas of Pakistan within a few days in the form of medicines, food and shelter, said Dr Andrew B Sission, the chief of the USAID in Pakistan, on Wednesday. This announcement was made by him at a meeting with National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) chairman, Dr Zafar Qadir, spokesman for the NDMA, told Pakistan Today.
NDMA Chairman Dr Zafar Qadir briefed the USIAD chief about the relief efforts of the government of Pakistan for the early recovery of the affected population. Zafar Qadir said that 413 persons had died, around 8.835 million had been affected, 6.791 million acres of land had come under water, crops standing over 2.166 million acres had been destroyed and around 1.524 million houses damaged in the floods.
The USAID chief promised that his organisation would soon announce a package for the flood victims and also provide medicines, food and shelter in addition to the said package.
