The Sindh government under MPO has decided that Mohajir Quami Movement-Haqqiqi (MQM-H) chairman Afaq Ahmad will not be released from the district jail Malir.
According to the notification of the home department, Afaq will remain in prison for one more month.
Earlier, the Sindh High Court had ordered the release of Afaq on bail in the Atiq-ur-Rehman murder case. This was the last case against the MQM-H chairman.
Afaq was booked in the murder case of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist Atiq-ur-Rehman by the Nabi Bux police in June 2009, and the trial court had rejected the acquittal plea of the applicant.
During proceedings, his counsel Mohammad Farooq contended before the court that no evidence against the MQM-H chief was found by the police and his client had nothing to do with the offence because he had been in jail since April 2004, and a case was registered on June 20, 2009.
Meanwhile, the Haqiqi supporters protested on the National Highway against the provincial govt’s decision.
