He sure gets female hearts to skip a beat while transforming from a shirtless human to a furry werewolf. Known as Jacob Black from the vampire-n-werewolves series, Taylor Lautner went from being a teen idol to the second sexiest man in 2010 as voted by an international magazine. Excerpts from an interview.
Fame came to you seemingly overnight. Have you come to terms with it? “I am so thankful for the franchise that made me a star. My goal is to continue to challenge myself by playing a wide variety of roles and genres.” You’ve done more romances than actioners. Why is that? “I’ve always loved action movies. This role is by far the most physically challenging one I’ve ever done, which is pretty cool. But it also has a lot more going on.” Do you think you will outgrow the ‘Jacob’ persona? “Letting go of my character from that series as a whole was a different experience. Whenever we would finish filming any of the other movies, we would be bummed, but we would know that it was just a matter of a few months before we would be back filming another one.
So when we wrapped the last two films, it was tough because we had been spending so much time together and for so long. It was a little emotional.” What’s your darkest fear? “Spiders!” What are you looking for in a potential partner? “I don’t have a type physically, but loyalty and honesty are important and also someone who can also just be herself, let loose and have fun.” If offered a film opposite Taylor Swift again, would you do it? “Why not? She’s very talented.”
