Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan on Monday opposed United Kingdom’s plans to increase its aid to Pakistan from £140 million to £350 million over the next few years, saying that the UK should cut its aid to Pakistan as only a small amount of these funds reached the intended target.
The former cricketer told BBC Radio that this aid was fuelling corruption, adding that Pakistan would be forced to introduce reforms and stand on its own feet if this aid did not come. “Unfortunately, aid has been a curse for Pakistan. The total aid i.e. $20billion is not helping the people,” Khan said.
Khan had earlier said that Pakistan should not accept aid coming from the US, adding that the US should trust Pakistan to find a solution to the terrorism situation. He said war in the region would never be settled militarily and a “political settlement” was the answer to the problems.

  1. Very well action taken by the Chairman PTI. I'll say that we should refuse from the aid of US and UN too.
