A 19-year-old girl, claiming her mother to be the ringleader of a gang of robbers, exposed how robbers’ gangs worked in the city with the involvement of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) officials. The girl, who introduced herself as Zoya Zaman, a resident of Nawankot, while talking to Pakistan Today, claimed that her mother, Gulshan, ran a gang of thieves and robbers.
She claimed that her mother, disguised as a maid, managed thefts and robberies in posh areas of the city including Gulberg, Defence, Model Town, Muslim Town and Garden Town. Zoya explained her mother’s mode of operation. She said that Gulshan and her accomplices Sakeena, Razia, Husna, Majid, Shahbaz and Waqas first sought employment in different houses.
Then during the day time, while the male members of the house were out for work and children at their educational institutions, her mother with her accomplices drugged the house’s females and looted valuables, while some of the gang members handled the watchmen outside the house, and later fled on motorcycles. Zoya said her father Mian Imran ran a workshop of denting and painting at Chuburgi and he came to know about her mother’s involvement with criminals about one and a half years ago.
She claimed that her father tracked a secret mobile number of Gulshan and came to know that she had contacts with different jewellers including Ahmed, Shafiq and Waseem, to whom she sold gold ornaments after looting. She said that her father later on divorced Gulshan. Zoya said that her father contacted Haseeb Anjum, an “agent” of CIA SP Umer Virak, and informed him about the activities of Gulshan and her gang.
She said that Anjum and other officials of CIA, arrested Gulshan, Sakeena and Majid from a house in Bastami Road and recovered valuables worth Rs 0.8 millions. However, to a surprise the CIA officials fined only Gulshan in the case while released Majid and Sakeena. She claimed that CIA officials did not return the recovered money to the victims, and despite the fact that two victims, including a relative of SSP Waqar Abbasi, had identified Gulshan, she was bailed only after 13 days of her arrest.
“Later my father contacted the then CIA Model Town DSP Fayyaz and told him about the activities of Gulshan and her gang,” said Zoya. She added that Fayyaz arrested Gulshan and shifted her to a private factory and subjected Gulshan to severe torture. She claimed that CIA officials once again recovered valuables from Gulshan and other members of gangs. However, to a surprise, Gulshan managed to escape after jumping over a wall of 12 feet, while she was in a bad condition.
Zoya claimed that several cases of robbery were registered with different police stations of the city but the gang was never busted by the CIA officials despite information. She said that even her father was threatened by CIA officials when he told CIA officials that he would expose the gang in front of the media. Ali Rizwan, Zoya’s uncle, also told Pakistan Today that CIA officials basically helped these criminals by making weak cases against them and by embezzling recovered money.
He said that the gang included six females and 10 males which looted valuables worth millions of rupees. He and Zoya requested authorities including Chief Justice of Pakistan for providing them shelter from CIA officials. Inspector Malik Fayyaz on the issue said that the woman was a proclaimed offender in a robbery case. He said that Zoya and her family were levelling allegations on CIA officials because Zoya’s father was also nominated in a case of robbery in Sherankot.
He said that earlier Gulshan was working with her husband but later she developed illicit relations with Majid and started working with him. He said that Imran had a grudge against Gulshan and Majid and was now exposing his wife in order to save his skin. Another scam of CIA Model Town officials came to light when a resident of Township, Awais, claimed that CIA officials including sub-inspector Rana Afzal, constable Shahbaz and Babloo arrested him and his friend and a photocopier Shahzad Shah from his shop.
He said that CIA officials arrested him after saying that he and his friend were involved in sale and purchase of stolen mobiles. He said that CIA Officials kept them detained in Green Town Police Station for three hours. However, later aforesaid officials of CIA took them to a hotel in Township and demanded Rs 150,000 to go free from the case. He said that meanwhile they told media officials about the mishap and when the media reached the hotel, CIA officials fled.
Surprisingly, the entire incident was brought to the knowledge of CIA SP Umer Virak and CIA Model Town DSP Atif Hayyat but they never took action against the officials of CIA and refused to comment on the issue.
