Rehan to miss Australia series

The PHF national selection committee has dropped striker Rehan Butt but called in seniors, short-corner specialist Sohail Abbas, mid-fielder Mohammad Waseem and goal-keeper Salman Akbar for the camp training for the upcoming series in Australia.
The PHF has invited 25 players for training camp to be established at the Naseer Bunda Hockey Stadium, Islamabad. The PHF did not give any solid reason for dropping Rehan from the camp training but an official of the federation said that he has been given rest. However, his younger brother Imran Butt, who is a goal-keeper, has been given a chance to give back-up to Salman Akbar.
On the other hand, the PHF has also named 29 probable juniors to train at Hockey Club of Pakistan Stadium under the supervision of Rana Mujahid while Kh Junaid will manage the senior team camp at Islamabad. The camp of both the senior and junior probables will start simultaneously from October 1. The training camp of national seniors will prepare them for participation in the Three-Nation Hockey Tournament and International Super Hockey Series – Perth, Australia from October 20 to November 3 while the junior probables will be preparing for participation in the 1st Sultan Johor Hockey Tournament – Johor/Malaysia from November 5 to 12.
