Govt poses a threat to Sharia: Fazl

ISLAMABAD – Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F chief Fazlur Rehman criticized the government policy over the Islamic laws, and said that the government posed serious threat to sharia, a private TV channel reported on Thursday.
Giving his remarks at the National Assembly, the JUI-F chief said that the decisions today were being made on foreign pressure. Fazl said that his party joined the government for the Islamic legislation, and all including President Asif Ali Zardari assured of the legislation in this regard.
He told the lawmakers that no headway achieved in regard to Islamic legislation despite passage of a complete year. He said that the democracy was not at jeopardy instead sharia was at threat. He said that the resolution passed by the Parliament to review war on terror, was being ridiculed.
The JUI-F leader said that the Tribal Areas was claimed to be peaceful, but not a single soldier was recalled from there. He said that the federal government was helpless there. “We don’t consent to anyone’s dictatorship and will block the way of any dictator if he makes any attempt,” he added.
