SL experts express satisfaction over anti-dengue facilities

Sri Lankan experts on dengue virus Thursday visited Lahore General Hospital and expressed satisfaction over the medical facilities made available declaring that they were according to international standards.
They inspected various wards including emergency, medical and dengue ward and inquired about the health of dengue patients.
Prof Tariq Salahuddin, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute and LGH briefed the expert team that 135,326 patients were checked up at emergency ward and OPD from September 1 to 21.
A number of 6,199 out of a total of 78,865 dengue patients were admitted in the hospital. Among the total admitted patients, 3,444 were found as suspected dengue patients among whom, 944 were discharged after necessary treatment. Dengue virus was reported as positive in 374 out of 484 patients.
Dr Tariq Salahuddin said that most of the dengue patients in city were treated and facilitated at LGH in accordance with Punjab chief minister’s directions.
Sri Lankan experts gave the guideline to doctors and paramedical staff regarding diagnosing and treating dengue patients. They told them that dengue virus had four types but the patients need not worry about because the death rate of this disease is very low as only 0.46 per cent is the death rate of dengue patients at LGH.
