Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected laboratory owners’ plea to cancel govt orders of charging Rs 90 as dengue test fee.
According to a private television channel, Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan of Lahore High Court started hearing on the petition.
The report submitted in the court by Punjab health secretary maintained that Rs 90 for dengue test is suitable as the owners of the laboratories were looting people by charging large amount for the test.
The laboratories owners took the stance that the machine for the test costs Rs 1 million while the fee charged as Rs 90 does not even meet the expenditure of the machinery.
After hearing arguments from both parties, the court remarked that the masses cannot be deprived of the discounted facility of dengue test while Rs 90 is a suitable fee.
The court rejected the petition after hearing arguments.

  1. these labs are big thieves….usually they are investors who exploit doctors and poor patients alike, less often the drs are the offending entity.
the property dealer sorts start a "business"(medical center) and employ "staff" (doctors and nurses) and then they want them to generate patient traffic by hook or by crook.
it is good shabaz shareef and the court are standing firm, it is a public nuisance that needs to be regulated.
Only robust malpractice litigation and meaningful all encompassing regulatory mechanisms will improve the situation,
The usurper zia ul haque is squarely to blame for introduction of quackery in our society

  2. The list of thieves includes Imran Khan. Shaukat Khanum is also overcharging. Jews (remember Jemima) can never be sincere with Pakistan.

  3. Are you people serious?
Would you ever stop making baseless allegations. If you have any substantial evidence of that "Jew" not being sincere with Pakistan, present it here. It's just like saying that all muslims are terrorist just because some dumb headed terrorist happens to be a "muslim".
And for the love of God, keep all that self-righteousness to yourself. These labs are not "for-charity" organizations. They have every right to charge whatever sum they deem suitable for their business. If you think they are too expensive, stop being so uptight and go take your sample someplace which is cheap. there are number of other labs doing it for a lot cheaper price. Shaukat Khanum is a cancer hospital and has a brilliant track record of doing pro-bono cancer treatments. This requires money and they are trying their best to generate it in a legal manner.
Ask your Khadim-e-Aaala to make his Shareef Medical Complex, Shareef Medical College and Health Network free for everyone if he's so god-fearing and if he genuinely cares for the poor public.
I will be more than happy to be convinced if you have facts to support your opinions.
Meanwhile, keep your unsubstantiated, biased, and utterly illogical sermons to yourselves.
