President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday extended an unprecedented favour to Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani by appointing one of Gilani’s close relatives a member of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) for a three-year term. “Moinul Islam Bokhari, who is the brother-in-law of the prime minister, has been appointed FPSC member on Gilani’s advice,” a source confirmed to Pakistan Today.
A press release issued by the Presidency said, “President Asif Ali Zardari has appointed Moinul Islam Bokhari as member Federal Public Service Commission for a term of three years on the advice of the Prime Minister.” The source said the appointment had been made after the prime minister took personal interest to get his brother-in-law placed in the FPSC. It has also been learnt that the president was reluctant to make this appointment but consistent follow-up and influence by the PM materialised the proposal.
