Imtiaz Ali and actor Ranbir Kapoor visited Nizamuddin Dargah to seek blessings for their upcoming movie ‘Rockstar’ and spent almost six hours at the shrine. The duo arrived with several members of the production team and were reportedly accompanied by 45 bouncers! They were soon joined by singer Mohit Chauhan, the voice behind Ranbir’s character Jordan in the flick. The team first offered a chaadar at Amir Khusrau’s tomb, and Imtiaz also placed the movie’s music CD near the tomb. After that, all of them joined the special qawwals who were to conclude the four day Urs festival that was going on at the dargah. Once they all sat down, Ranbir and Mohit also sang the qawwali ‘Kun Faaya Kun’ from the movie, which has been shot at the dargah.
After people started leaving post midnight, the actor-director once again joined the qawwali group to be part of their musical celebrations. Close to midnight, when Ranbir finally made it to the dargah in-charge Syed Afsar Ali Nizami’s. He said, “I’ve spent four nights here. The song that you heard right now was shot here and I have a deep attachment to this place. The song is important to the character because that’s when he really connects to a superior being.” Imtiaz revealed that he had been coming to the dargah for four to five years, since the time he started writing the story of ‘Rockstar’. He added, “I feel some kind of a drive when I come here. We just felt that we should come here to seek the blessings of the saint, for the music, before it hits the stands.”
