PIAF-Founders Alliance sweeps LCCI elections

The PIAF-Founders Alliance Tuesday made clean sweep by winning all eight seats of LCCI Corporate Class for year 2011-12. Total 638 votes were polled out of 1943, while 14 votes were rejected due to technical reasons. PIAF-Founder Alliance got 440 panel votes while the independent candidate secured only six panel votes. PIAF-Founders Alliance candidates Mian Abuzar Shad got 506 votes, Kashif Younas Mehar 586, Shahzeb Akram 546, Ahmad Hasnain 567, Raees A. Sheikh 573, Hasnain Reza Mirza 563, Syed Mehmood Ghaznavi 559, Shoaib Zahid Malik 555 while independent candidate Khalid Javed Rabbani got 90 votes. Nadar Kamal Osman, Shafqat Saeed Piracha and Asim Qadri comprised the Election Commission.
Nabila Intisar of PIAF-Founders Alliance has already been elected unopposed on one seat reserved for women as no other candidate filed nomination papers.
In the second phase, polling for Associate Class would be held today (September 21). Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, Aftab Ahmad vohra, Khamis Saeed, Nasir Saeed, Mohammad Amjad Chaudhry, Zeeshan Khalil, Waqar Ahmad Mian, Raja Hassan Akhtar, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Ahmad Rasool Mian, Mohammad Manzoor Butt, Mohammad Aijaz, Mohammad Azeem are in the run for seven seats of Associate Class. The final results will be announced on September 30 in scheduled Annual General Meeting.
Meanwhile, past presidents of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while expressing solidarity with PIAF-Founders Alliance, announced their full support for Alliance candidates for Corporate Class and Associate Class. LCCI former President Mian Tajammal Hussain, M. Amin Agha, Ejaz Butt, Arshad Saeed, Mian Shahzada Alam Monoo, Syed Mohsin Raza Bukhari, Mushtaq Ahmad, Mohammad Arshad Naeem, Tariq Hameed, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Mian Mohammad Ashraf, Salahuddin Ahmad Sahaf, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Bashir A. Baksh, Sheikh Saleem Ali, Ilyas M. Chaudhry, Sheikh Mohammad Asif, Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Misbah-ur-Rehman, Mian Shafqat Ali, Shahid Hassan Sheikh, Mohammad Ali Mian, Mian Muzaffar Ali and Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry have pledged to support the PIAF-Founders Alliance candidates for the LCCI Election 2011-12 for Corporate and Associate Class being held on 20th (today) and 21 September respectively.
They said the alliance of Founders and PIAF has strengthened the business community. Alliance is playing its role for the promotion of trade and industry and all concerned government circles, particularly bureaucracy, is forced to listen the voice of the businessmen. LCCI former presidents said PIAF-Founders Alliance has left no stone unturned to serve the cause of business community. They said LCCI is constructing 100 houses in the flood-hit areas of District Leyyah, while the possession of 50 houses has already been given to flood-affectees. LCCI has also dispatched goods of worth million of rupees in different affected areas. LCCI leaders said the PIAF-Founders Alliance strongly protested prolonged electricity and gas load shedding and discrimination with Punjab in gas supply, demanding an immediate end to unannounced load shedding.
They said the PIAF-Founders Alliance has written innumerable success stories with the support of the business community. They said the LCCI members should cast their vote in the favour of PIAF-Founders Alliance as its leadership has made an effort to introduce experienced representatives of business community as their candidates. Earlier, the business community of Kasur also announced its support for PIAF-Founders Alliance candidates in the LCCI elections. The Alliance Associate Class candidates visited Kasur, where business community leaders Hafiz Munir Ahmad, Chaudhry Zahid Hussain and a large number of businessmen gave a warm welcome and lauded the role of PIAF-Founders Alliance leadership. They said businessmen of Kasur would cast their votes in the favor of Alliance candidates. It is pertinent to note that the polling for LCCI Chamber Class elections is being held today (September 20th) where 1942 Corporate Class members would use their right of voting, while PIAF-Founders Alliance Candidates for Corporate Class Mian Abuzar Shad, Kasif Younas Meher, Shahzeb Akram, Ahmad Hasnain, Raees A. Sheikh, Hasnain Reza Mirza, Syed Mehmood Ghaznavi and Shoaib Zahid Malik would contest for eight seats of Corporate Class.
