The Sindh Madressatul Islam College (SMIC) set up a two-day relief camp for the rain-affected people of Sindh at its premises on Monday.
According to a press release, male and female students, teachers and staff members of the SMIC donated eatables, medicines, cloths, drinking water and other necessary items in a large quantity for the disaster-stricken people.
“Today, more than six million brothers, sisters, mothers and children are affected by the heavy monsoon rains in Sindh. Therefore, it is our national obligation to support them in this most difficult moment of their lives,” said Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh, principal of the SMIC, while appreciating the national spirit of the students and employees of the institution.
“Sindh Madressah is a historic institution of Sindh and it has not only played its role in imparting quality education, but its students also fully participated in the creation of Pakistan and later on in its development,” he added.
“The SMIC has also played its due role for extending help to the earthquake survivors in
2005 and the flood affected people in 2010. Today it is also contributing for the rain-hit people of Sindh.”
