Pakistan Post has issued a commemorative Rs 8 denomination postage stamp on 16th September to commemorate Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO)’s 50th year. The national space agency was established on 16 Sep 1961 as a committee and made a commission in 1981. SUPARCO’s main functions are to develop, design, fabricate and launch sounding rockets, communication satellites and earth observation satellites for research purposes.
It also undertakes Research & Development in the space sciences and its applications. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Post Additional Director General.Fazli Sattar Khan said the stamp had a special post mark and the First Day Cover of the issue will be available from September 16 at all General Post Offices in the country.
