Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is holding its annual elections for eight seats of the Corporate Class today (Tuesday), while elections for the Associate Class will be held on Wednesday at LCCI building. According to the official records, some 1,942 voters will use their right of vote, while 12 candidates are running for the eight seats of the Corporate Class, while 18 candidates will contest elections for seven seats of the Associate Class.
LCCI Information Department disclosed that three candidates had already withdrawn their nomination papers from the Corporate Class Polls, while four candidates had gotten back their papers from the Associate Class elections. Candidate lists show that Mian Abuzar Shad, Kashif Younis Mehr, Shahzeb Akram, Ahmad Hussnain, Rais A Sheikh, Husnain Raza Mirza, Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, Shoaib Zahid Malik and Khalid Javed Rubbani are contesting elections for Corporate Class seats. Khalid Javed Rubbani is the only independent candidate, while the rest belong to the ruling group PIAF-Founders Alliance.
