Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti on Monday warned the Afghanistan government to halt cross-border attacks by militants, otherwise the government of Pakistan and its army would not hesitate to go to any extent to stop the assaults.
Addressing a function at Dir Scouts’ ground, Balambat where he distributed checques among the heirs of 39 victims of Samar Bagh blast, the chief minister said the fight against terrorists would continue and they would never bow before them. He said the government, army and the public successfully defeated militants in Swat, Dir and Bajaur.
“Some of their leaders have taken shelter in Afghanistan and they are attacking Pakistani posts and people like dacoits and looters at night,” the CM said. He also praised people of Dir for rendering great sacrifices during the ongoing war against terrorists.
The chief minister said terrorists were carrying out sabotage activities on foreign agencies’ aid. “They are playing in someone else’s hands,” he said without naming anyone. He asked all political parties to get united against terrorists and their activities.
He said no single party could fight the war alone, suggesting all political parties and powers get united in this regard.
Hoti said restoring peace was the top priority of the government. He said he desired to open a university in Dir, but militancy proved a major hurdle in the way.
