Interior Minister Rehman Malik said on Saturday the government would not accept the resignation of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Director General (DG) Tehsin Anwar Shah, adding that “the government’s wisdom could not be challenged by anyone”.
Malik told reporters that that the government would obey the Supreme Court’s (SC) orders and the FIA DG would assist the NICL investigation team. Shah had resigned during a Supreme Court (SC) hearing on the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam case, saying that he could not work under NICL chief investigator Zafar Qureshi who was his junior.
The interior minister said the FIA had decided to take strict measures against grey trafficking, human trafficking and corruption. “The concerned FIA circle incharge and the high ranked PTA official will be booked in the First Information Report (FIR) if illegal activity was found in their area in future. We can save $300 to $500 million annually by curbing illegal trafficking,” he said.
He said internet service providers including Google and Youtube would be blocked in Pakistan if they did not cooperate with the country’s law enforcement authorities and provided them with the required information on criminals.
