DUBAI: Youth intervention can change the political culture in Pakistan, former president Pervez Musharraf said while addressing a gathering in Abu Dhabi, announcing that he will soon introduce a new party setup at provincial level, followed by city and town councils to garner support for the coming elections.
The gathering was organized by UAE-based Pakistani businessmen including Abdul Salam, Khurrum Anis and Dr Syed Qaiser Anis, the former president of the UAE Pakistan Business Council. Prominent Pakistani TV personality Attiqa Odhom, who is Musharraf’s spokesperson, also addressed the gathering. “Sixty percent of the population does not vote which means that the political system is not balanced and needs to be altered,” he said, adding that he will go to Pakistan when the time is ripe. Musharraf said he had over 360,000 people following him on facebook which shows how popular he is.
