Sindh Culture Minister/Relief Monitoring Committee Thatta Chairperson Sassui Palijo has called upon the authorities concerned to extend all possible help in the shape of qualitative food, medication and potable water to the flood-affectees, especially those living in the relief camps of Thatta.
Palijo issued these directives on Thursday during her visit to a relief camp established in the under-construction Thatta District Jail, where 1,291 people of 221 families from Badin have been provided shelter.
During the visit, she met the female inmates of the camps and, after expressing dissatisfaction over the working of the Sindh Health Department, ordered shifting of patients suffering from different illnesses to the district hospital for proper medical aid.
She asked Thatta District Coordination Officer Muhammad Jaffer Abbasi for proper arrangement of tents, supply of adequate ration, potable water and medicines to the flood-affected people.
She urged the need of availability of a doctor from the health department round-the-clock in the relief camp and directed to conduct fumigation spray against malaria.
“The government is taking all steps to extend relief for the flood-affectees. I appeal to the civil society of the country to come forward and help the people living in relief camps,” she added. She also called upon the officials of the drainage department to take necessary steps for draining the floodwater into the sea.
