Lahore College for Women University (LCWU) organised a seminar in the varsity’s auditorium on Thursday to aware the teaching and non-teaching staff about dengue fever. LCWU Medical Officer Dr Hafsa informed the audience about the precautionary measures, protection and treatment of dengue. The medical officer highlighted the facilities available for dengue patients in LCWU and nearby hospitals. She said every possible measure was being taken at LCWU to snub this disease. Hafsa said that majority of dengue fever patients did not need hospitalisation as complete rest at home with proper treatment could cure the patient within eight to ten days. She said that dengue fever was the public health problem which would only be overcome by joint efforts of all stakeholders and with the active participation of community. Only two to three percent of dengue patients needed platelet infusion and the patients having platelets less than 20,000 needed hospitalisation.
