National Assembly Speaker Dr Fahmida Mirza has asked overseas Pakistanis to come forward and help out generously to their flood affected brothers in Pakistan, says a message received from Dubai.
Talking to Pakistani expatriates she said that her visit to Dubai was aimed at apprising overseas Pakistanis of the devastations caused by floods in Sindh particularly in Badin besides appealing to them to extend financial assistance to the affectees.
The situation arising out of floods was alarming and it could not be met out of the resources available with the governments, she added.
Referring to the damages caused by the floods she said 1.6 million out of total 1.8 million population of district Badin had been adversely affected by floods. Dozens of villages have been wiped out and no high ground was left where relief camps could be set up, she told.
She urged Pakistani expatriates to help flood affectees with the spirit they had provided assistance to affectees of 2005 disastrous quake and 2010 floods.
