SC gives conditional permission for cutting trees in Lahore

The Supreme Court of Pakistan has given conditional permission for cutting of trees for construction of a road adjacent to the bank of BRB Canal in Lahore.
The SC ordered the Punjab Government to declare all trees planted besides the bank of BRB Canal as public property and present a detailed report before the court within the next six weeks.
The court linked the cutting of those trees with the approval of the reconciliation committee and instructed the provincial government to plant four new trees in place of every chopped tree and issue all details to the media.

To some people this must be an act against environment but its the right decision apart from widening the road those trees should be cut down as those trees collect most water and should only be planted where there is drought these trees should nt be planted in fertile land.One of the reasons that those plants should cut down and instead new kind be planted

  11. To everyone who’s posted something about the tree cutting, please do have a read through of the article that I’ve posted above. When can we ever start learning from our neighbour country, instead of constantly castigating it?

  13. Wider roads are good roads and essential…. Having said that… four trees replaced for one cut sounds rather promising however it’s not enough… Our forestry department have successfully destroyed our forestation by hardly ever seeing to it that anything which vaguely may resemble a tree successfully reached its maturity in replacement of the ones cut….. It’s one thing to plant a tree but its another thing to reap of it’s benefits….

  14. In fact it is a wise decision if implemented as directed. 4 Tree against each tree will definite give more attraction to road and expansion will give a smooth traffic in result. Both are the need of the Lahore.

  15. Shahbaz sharif is already fond of trees. He planted the trees all over the city even digging the hard devider of the road. he diffnitly will replace 10 against 1. All the Members of Tehreek do not know that what is polution. When traffic James, we fell the Polution all over road.the thousands trees could not reduce the ppolution. The other sulution to save the trees is introduction of "TANGAS" from Thokar to Jallo. This will save the hertage and trees.
