209 killed in Sindh floods: NDMA

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday said that at least 209 people have been killed by recent floods in southern Sindh.
While briefing the National Assembly committee on flood relief, the National Disaster Management Authority told the committee that over 5.3 million people were affected by recent monsoon rains and floods in Sindh province.
NDMA said that crops over 1.7 acre have been destroyed, while 209 people have lost their lives so far.
The National Disaster Management Authority told the committee that China has pledged $ 4.7 million for floods victims, while other friends also providing emergency humanitarian aid to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, many villages have been completely inundated by additional inflow of flood water which has entered Badin and other districts of Sindh.
The ongoing stormy monsoon rains and floods have wreaked havoc in vast area of interior Sindh, while more than five thousand flood victims have been affected by malaria, dengue and skin diseases and many are perishing daily for not getting any relief.
