ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday referred two more cases of lawmakers’ fake degrees to the police officials concerned for registration of criminal cases against them. Both the accused were PPP legislators, former MNA Amir Yar Waran and MPA of Balochistan Assembly, Ali Madad Jattak.
A senior official of ECP said that Chief Election Commissioner Justice (R) Hamid Ali Mirza referred cases of said lawmakers to the DPOs concerned for registration of FIRs as degrees they submitted had been proven as fake. Amir Yar Waran resigned from NA-184 Bahawalpur a few months ago and later his wife was elected from the vacated seat. Meanwhile, ECP hearing Committee also referred case of Punjab Assembly’s MPA Haji Nasir and Sindh Assembly’s MPA Bashir Ahmed Khan to Chief Election Commissioner for initiating legal action against them as well.
