The Pakistan Physiotherapy Association (PPA) observed the World Physiotherapy Day on Thursday with an aim to struggle for the rehabilitation of the disable people of the society. In this connection, the PPA also organised a walk in coordination with the Rifah University, under the leadership of Dr Imtiaz Hussain Shah. The walk started from Kulsoom Plaza and culminated at the China Chowk. Senior doctors, civil society members, students and disabled persons participated in the walk.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers said that the PPA was struggling in coordination with the world organisations to eradicate disablement of the country with an aim to make the disabled persons useful citizens of the country. They said that the physiotherapy was very helpful in curing various physical diorders.
The participants of the walk appealed to the President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani to appoint at least five physiotherapists at district-level and two at tehsil-level hospitals. They also sought a legal status for their organisation.
