JI condemns PPP efforts to woo back MQM, slams Malik’s role

Jamaat-e-Islami chief Syed Munawar Hasan slammed on Tuesday the government’s keenness to woo back the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) as a coalition partner in spite of the serious allegations leveled against it by former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza.
Talking to a delegation at Mansoora, he asked the government to refrain from taking murderers, extortionists and national enemies as partners and give preference to national interests. He said Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s role had been doubtful from the very first day as he had been serving some foreign powers’ agenda.
Paddy prices: Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Liaqat Baloch, in a statement issued on Tuesday, called upon the government to determine the support price of paddy and cotton, keeping in view the demands of the growers.
