ISLAMABAD: Calling China a true and most reliable friend of Pakistan, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Sunday said the world had a lot to learn from China.
In his vote of thanks after the address of Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao to a joint session of parliament, Gilani said all political parties, all parliamentarians, and the whole nation stood united to take the friendship and partnership with China to greater heights. He said Pakistan and China enjoyed unique relations marked by sentiments of love and mutual respect, adding that their deep affinity was rooted in hearts and minds of the people.
“The destiny of our nations is inextricably linked and we share each other’s joys and sorrows,” Gilani added.Leader of the Opposition Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Wen’s speech had set new benchmarks for the future of Sino-Pak relations.
He said the enthusiastic participation of the members of parliament reflected the amount of respect for the Chinese dignitary. “Leave the MPs, you can go to any nook and corner of the country and each and every citizen of Pakistan would express love and aspiration for China and its people. China has been a selfless friend – a friend on who we can depend on,” he added. He said there was no difference of opinion on Pak-China relations. Nisar added that Pakistan-China “friendship is a legacy – a treasure which is an asset for our future generations. We are passing through difficult times but with the help of China we can rise again”.
