ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Sunday said that Chinese premier Wen Jiabao has assured Pakistani leadership that his country would support Pakistan at all fronts. He was addressing a news conference here along with Pakistani ambassador in China, Masood Khan. When asked as to why the Chinese PM avoided to mention Kashmir issue, Kaira said, “There is no change in China’s stance over Kishmir issue. Chinese premier has assured Pakistan that they would support and respect Pakistan sovereignty and independence.”
Information Minister said the Chinese premier’s visit was successful. He said both the countries singed a unilateral tariff concession on 268 items which would strengthen the country’s balance of payments and job creation and give impetus to the country’s economy’s pace. He said China would give assistance of $ 14 billion for completion of 36 project identified by joint economic group for promotion of various sectors including power and nuclear energy. “It would also play vital in improving economic relation as well as further boost people to people contacts between the two countries”, Kaira said, adding that China will also open banks in Pakistan.
