Merit should be upheld in medical admissions: CM

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said institutions must uphold the merit policy for admission to all medical and dental colleges in Punjab. He directed the constitution of a special committee headed by Chief Secretary tol submit recommendations to formulate recommendations to take against institutions that violate the merit regulations. He said the admission entry test will be held by the University of Health Sciences on September 13 in 12 cities and 24 examination centers had been set up for it.
Shahbaz was presiding over a meeting to review the medical entry test arrangements on Monday. Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Additional Chief Secretary, Secretaries of Health, Finance, Education, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences and senior doctors attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Minister said the quota system and special seats had been abolished because they violate merit. Earlier, University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Malik Hussain Mubashar gave a detailed briefing regarding steps taken for entry test to be held on September 13 and the admission schedule.
