Apprehensive about the “removal” of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s picture from certain areas including offices, the City District Peshawar chapter of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) announced on Monday to observe “Quaid-i-Azam Week” from September 11-17 to pay homage to Jinnah’s leadership.
The week-long programme commencing on Jinnah’s 63rd death anniversary on September 11 will start with a photo exhibition of Quaid-i-Azam and other Pakistan Movement leadership in Peshawar. Peshawar President Malik Zulfiqar in a press conference at Peshawar Press Club. Flanked by General Secretary Muhammad Imran and other party members including Khadim Ali Khan and Arshad Qureshi, Zulfiqar said the party would organise a seminar titled “Quaid and Students” under the auspices of Muslim Students Federation, while the PML-N Youth Wing would take out a rally with the emblem of “Hum Sub Ka Pakistan”. The Women’s Wing would hold separate programmes and the PML-N Lawyers’ Wing would hold a discussion titled “Quaid-i-Azam as a Lawyer”. A book exhibition about Pakistan Movement, Jinnah and Iqbal would also be organised and during the programme, prominent figures and PML-N’s local and central leadership would patronise and grace the occasion, Zulfiqar added.
