ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested the nephew of former Religious Affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi for his alleged involvement in the Haj scam.
The FIA team arrested Kazmi’s nephew Malik Khokhar from Lahore and raids were being carried out to arrest Rana Irfan, another one of Kazmi’s relative accused in the scam, an FIA official told Pakistan Today.
He said Malik was arrested after the FIA team probing the haj scam received evidence regarding the former minister’s involvement in the haj scam.
“The FIA received a CD of telephonic conversation by a nephew of the sacked minister with a travel agent Mumtaz, in which the former was demanding an additional amount of Rs 22 thousands per pilgrim,” he said. The official said Kazmi had demanded SR 50 per pilgrim from Shahid Khan, who was working as the director general (DG) Haj before Rao Shakeel.
