123 parties yet to submit statement of accounts

The Election Commission of Pakistan is yet to receive consolidated statement of accounts from 123 political parties, the deadline for which was August 29. Of 168 only 45 parties including Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf, Pakistan Peoples Party, Awami National Party, Jamat-e-Islami, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, PML-Functional, PML-Quaid, Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam-Samiulhaq and Awami Muslim League-Rashid have submitted their statements.
Under Article 13 of Political Parties Order 2002, submission of accounts 60 days before the closure of financial year is compulsory.
ECP had issued directives to all party chiefs to submit an undertaking declaring that their party does not collect funds from unlawful means while any party that would breach the deadline would be deemed ineligible for taking part in the general elections.
