Pakistan beat Malaysia by 3-2 in their opening match of the first Asian Hockey Championship on Saturday at Ordos in China. The green shirts took the lead when forward Abdul Haseem Khan opened the score while captain Muhammad Imran doubled the lead in the first half when he successfully converted a short-corner.
At the end of the first half the both teams were tied at two all. In the second half, both the teams tried to take the lead but unable to break the defence line. But just before the final hooter, forward Shakeel Abbasi scored for Pakistan. In the end, Pakistan won the contest by 3-2. In the other matches of the opening day, India defeated China by 5-0 while
S Korea beat Japan by 3-2.
