Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ahmad Raza Tahir said on Saturday that the police would remain vigilant against criminals, anti-social and anti-state elements on September 6, the Defence Day.
The CCPO directed all divisional superintendents of police to take stern action against criminals and terrorists and conduct snap checking at important locations in the city. The CCPO ordered effective surveillance and monitoring of all entry and exit points of Lahore and said police would make every effort to protect life and property of the citizens.
The CCPO said in order to eradicate crime, the Lahore Police should work as a disciplined, focused and dedicated team. He said long-term effective measures were being taken against terrorist elements to maintain peace in the city. For this, special training was being provided to the Elite Force and Quick Response Force and other branches of the Lahore Police were also being augmented and streamlined accordingly, he added.
Tahir directed stern legal action against criminal elements involved in land grabbing, drug dealing and other activities. The CCPO warned that negligence of duty would not be tolerated at any time, especially on Defence Day.
He said comprehensive security could not be assured without public cooperation; therefore it was essential for the citizens to identify and report suspicious elements to the police on Emergency 15.
