Eid meant to spread affinity among people: President

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that the joyous moments of Eid-ul-Fitr are meant to encourage the spirit of love and affinity among the people. He also urged the people to act as a source of happiness towards others. In his message to nation on Eid-ul-Fitr, the president regarded Eid-ul-Fitr as the beautiful gift of Allah Almighty and felicitated the nation on this joyous occasion. He said Eid-ul-Fitr is a reward by Allah Almighty after the blessed month of Ramadan. He said the best way to express gratitude for these countless bounties is to live in accordance with the teachings of Islam, which leads towards the completion of an Islamic welfare state.
President Zardari said the democratic government has been making efforts from its start to deliver the benefits of democracy to the people including the constitutional steps and reforms. He mentioned the historic reforms announced in the month of Ramadan for the people of FATA, which he said would provide them better opportunities in political, economic and other fields.
The president said sectarianism, prejudice and terrorism were the elements against the spirit of Islam. He urged the need to spread the message of love, tolerance, patience and fortitude. He said these are the components of a society as taught by the Islamic principles.
Zardari said at this occasion, one should never forget those sections of society who are unable to celebrate the joyous eve. He said the people affected by the recent rains in Sindh should be helped so that they might also celebrate the Eid.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to protect the country and bless it with peace, prosperity and development.
