Rescue workers have recovered nine more bodies from Kohistan, taking the death toll in torrential rains and floods to 48, officials said on Monday. Officials said 15 people were still missing and efforts to recover them were underway. Kohistan District Coordination Officer (DCO) Imtiaz Shah said rescue workers were facing severe problems due to the rough weather in Kundeyan valley.
The DCO said food packs and other daily use items were being airlifted to affected areas through helicopters, adding roads had been washed away by water. Officials said further the dead had been buried in the area after confirming their identity. The Kundeyan Valley of Kohistan District has suffered badly due to floods as several houses and roads have been destructed.
