Lahoris give Zulfiqar Mirza ‘thumbs up’

Viewers in the city were glued to their TV screens on Sunday to see Sindh Senior Minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza deliver a fiery press conference in which he resigned from his party office, ministry and legislative seat. A majority of the public gave a ‘thumbs up’ to Mirza’s fiery speech with some claiming that the truth has finally been revealed. The fed-up Mirza had transformed in to a hero after a two hour press conference becoming the talk of the town and an Internet sensation. All social networking sites, including Facebook and Twitter, were flooded with comments and remarks even during the memorable speech.
It was something never seen by the public before. A politically enriched and influential man, Zulfiqar Mirza, frequently placing the Holy Quran on his head during his speech and making allegations against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Interior Minister Rehman Malik in a live press conference from the Karachi Press Club, was something new for the public.
One of the top comments came from a twitter account of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, “Emergency meeting at the Foreign Office. Thanks Uncle Zulfiqar Mirza.” Other comments were “Mirza missile launched”, “Dr Zulfiqar Mirza Khappy”, “long live Zulfiqar Mirza”, “Zulfiqar Mirza spoke very openly, straightforwardly & left nothing confusing and gave a solution to the Karachi ongoing killings”, “Zulfiqar Mirza sb. This was certainly not the ideal time for all this as awam are eyeing celebrating eid”, “Major TV debate.. starts NOW… Major killing .. starts now … all “political killers” will BLAME each other BUT Karachiites will DIE”, “Apart from some unnecessary personal/family details and praise for ISI-army, it was an effective & daring press conference ”
“Zulfiqar Mirza did not leave his party members from criticism. Will Haider Abbas Rizvi do the same? Who is sincere to this country. How many further proves are required? Why Why Why Why the action is not being taken against MQM.   6. first time i ever seen a Pakistani politician speaking truth like this way. He truly said He is not a successful politician because politicians always tell lies and round talking. Good job Zulfiquar Mirza. I am worried after speaking truth some one may attempt his murder like MQM or Govt Agencies because in Pakistan who speak truth was killed by hidden forces either politician or media men etc etc. May god bless him.

  12. zulfiqar mirza may have revealed a lot about the MQM that no one has dared say before, but he did not dare enter the area where the truth about himself and PPP's support for terrorists as a party would be revealed. He refused to admit that the PAC in Lyari was involved in bhatta khori and kidnapping and loot and plunder. He did not say that he had 'businesses' and support running in Lyari which is why he was so edgy as to why the operation started there. He did not admit that the PPP has become after the death of Benazir a somewhat fascist party, who has sidelines many of its old guard, while loot and plunder and corruption carries on like nobody's business.
    During his whole speech, his mannerisms may have been funny and interesting to watch but stop making him into a hero. This is the man who is himself one of the biggest gangsters, who makes irresponsible statements, who is one of those dangerous Sindhi fascists who only think of their ethnicity (and therefore are no less than the MQM). He attacked a reporter Shoaib Burney some months ago (June) and had his guards threaten to kill him because they had asked him a few questions. Also, lets not forget the crime didnt exactly die down while he was home minister. What do the people of this province understand about Karachi's affairs anyway? Shahbaz Sharif went and said things that were not cared for by anyone over there. He even sided with having an operation. A complete thumbs up from Lahoris is therefore expected because they dont know what Mirza himself is like.

  41. Zulfiqar Mirza always envied MQM. He tried to emulate MQM's torture cells, bhatta collection and killings by creating and nurturing his own Peoples Aman Committee, which collected crores for him every week. He also collected monthly from organised crime in Karachi as Home Minister, in which position he enjoyed 80% of the powers of Provincial Government with Qaim Ali Shah playing as number two or even number three/four. It was only after he was removed from the Home Ministry losing everything and after his failure to stop Rehman Malik from Rangers operation in Lyari that he got frustrated. HIs conscience and patriotism after three years of meeting Altaf. He was ready to be a party to break Pakistan plan during his three years as Home Minister.

    What ever Mirza said in every forum against MQM it is false and fabricated allegation due his own party “ AMAN KAMATY” creates problem in Karachi , they are involve in extortion, brutalities activities, having torture cells which were recently found by the government institutions.

    Requesting to the media and the Supreme Court to look in to the matter also, otherwise forget about the peace in Karachi.

    Why the Supreme Court should have asked to Mirza for fabricated evidences of allegation imposed on MQM and Mr. Rehman Malik as well as Mr. Babar Awan. He is not that so important person to whom the S/Court will relay on him to declarer the judgment on he based of false and fabricated allegation of statement.
