People flock for Eid shopping

The prices of vegetables and fruits increased fractionally on Sunday as shoppers flocked the Sunday Bazaars for Eid. The number of shoppers increased in the afternoon at the Sunday Bazaars after the torrential rain subsided. With rain water accumulated in muddy ponds, shoppers had to face issues while shopping for Eid.
The shopkeepers said that there were few customers in the morning because of the rain. A shopkeeper, Malik Muneer, at the Green Town Sunday Bazaar said that more people visited the bazaars once it had stopped raining. Another shopkeeper, Asghar, at the Model Town Sunday Bazaar, said that the number of customers remained high throughout the day.
The shoppers said that they planned to buy more groceries for Eid. A housewife Maryam said that she had bought double the amount of groceries that she normally did because of Eid. Jawad Ahmed, a shopper, said that since he got his salary early because of Eid, it was easier for him to buy more groceries than usual. The prices of some vegetables and fruits increased and some remained the same. The price of onions increased by Rs 3 per kilogram (kg) and the price of tomatoes increased by Rs 4 per kg. Similarly, the price of apples increased by Rs 5 per kg, of bananas by Rs 10 per dozen and of mangoes Rs 5 per kg.
