Rainy weather will prevail in the provincial capital on Eid as the Met Office predicted widespread rain with thundershowers and isolated heavy falls in various parts of the country from Tuesday to Saturday.
According to the Met Office, meteorological conditions indicated a strong weather system (low pressure area) developing over central parts of India, likely to cause widespread heavy rains in Pakistan during the current week. Rain might also cause flash floods in local rivers and streams of Punjab, particularly in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Dera Ghazi Khan.
Meanwhile, scattered rain with thundershowers occurred in parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir on Sunday. Lahore enjoyed seven millimetres of rain with the maximum temperature hardly touching 28 degrees Celsius. Around 92 percent relative humidity was recorded in the city on Sunday morning while 88 percent in the evening.
Around 97 millimetres of rain was recorded in Okara, 84mm in Noor Pur Thal, 79mm in Kakul, 67mm in Muzaffarabad, 45mm in Murree and Rawalakot, 41mm in Saidu Sharif, 36mm in Garhi Dupatta and Mangla, 34mm in Balakot, 24mm in Chakwal and DG Khan, 22mm in Khanpur, 18mm in Faisalabad, 16mm in Joharabad, 14mm in Bahawalnagar and Sahiwal, 12mm in Bhakkar, 11mm in Kalat and Jhang and10mm in Khuzdar and Peshawar on Sunday.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall might cause severe floods in lower Sindh and flash floods in local rivers and streams of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and eastern parts of Balochistan. Scattered rain and thundershowers with isolated heavy fall is expected in Punjab (including Lahore), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, eastern Balochistan and Kashmir today (Monday).
