Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) on Sunday forecasted more rains in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad during the next three to four days. Talking to Pakistan Today, PMD Director General Arif Mehmood said isolated rains would continue during the next week including Eid holidays. He said that rain would continue with differing intensities. He said that the monsoon had been active and its currents were continuously penetrating into upper parts of the country, causing scattered rains while heavy rains may even cause severe flooding in lower Sindh including Hyderabad. According to the Met Office scattered rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls were expected on Monday.
Widespread rain/thundershowers with isolated heavy falls expected from Tuesday to Saturday. “Heavy falls may cause flash floods in the local rivers/nullahs of the province, particularly in Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and DG Khan Divisions,” the Met Office official said. The meteorological conditions indicate that a strong weather system (low pressure) was developing over central parts of India that would cause widespread heavy rains in Pakistan.
