PPP Punjab has decided to submit requisition for convening Punjab Assembly session over the kidnapping of slain Punjab governor Salman Taseer’s son Shahbaz Taseer and warned of province wide protest if the abductee is not recovered within 24 hours.
PPP parliamentary members, submitting call attention notice in the Punjab Assembly over the kidnap, have warned of province-wide protests against the Punjab government in case Shahbaz Taseer is not recovered from the custody of abductors.
Flanked by Punjab general secretary Sami Ullah Khan and Chaudhy Manzoor, PPP Punjab President Imtiaz Safdar Warraich – at a press conference held at the PPP Punjab Secretariat on Saturday – slammed the Punjab government failure to protect the lives of citizens, saying the entire province had become a den of crime.
Warning the government of province-wide protests from Monday, Warraich said that the Punjab CM must fulfill his responsibility and take concrete measures for immediate recovery of Shahbaz Taseer. He went on to say that Salman Taseer was murdered by Punjab police and the abduction of Shahbaz Taseer had also exposed it. It seemed that there was a race of corruption and crime going on between Lahore and Faisalabad, he claimed.
Meanwhile, in the call attention notice, the PPP has sought explanation from the Punjab Chief Minister whether the provincial government intended to recover Shahbaz Taseer, and how long it would take to make a breakthrough in the case.
Talking to the media, Shaukat Mehmood Basra said the CM should pay attention towards his province. There were also incidents of target killing in the Southern Punjab but they were not being reported, he claimed.
