The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday inaugurated a service road in Sector F/10 and named it after the Urdu poet Ahmed Faraz. CDA Chairman Imtiaz Inayat Elahi said the CDA had been naming different roads after scholars, intellectuals, and poets who had been giving their best for Pakistan especially on an international level.
He said that intellectuals, scholars and poets were an asset for the Pakistani society, who deserved honour and after whom the CDA would not only name roads but also parks and important buildings. Among the guests attending the ceremony were scholar and critics. Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, former PTV managing director Agha Nasir, Iftikhar Arif, Kishwar Naheed, Shabnam Shakil, Mansha Yaad and a large number of poets, scholars, intellectuals from Rawalpindi and Islamabad were present on the occasion.
Elahi said poets, scholars and intellectuals were sensitive people who, through their vision, painted the real picture of the society, and CDA, therefore, named roads after them to commemorate their services. He said upcoming roads would soon be named after Josh Malih Abadi and Syed Zameer Jafri.
