Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) President Samina Fazil on Thursday said all resources would be used to empower young female entrepreneurs. Women have the potential to play a very active role in Pakistan’s economic revival if they are trusted and given proper opportunities, she said, adding that national goals can not be achieved unless women are incorporated into the system. Speaking after officially inaugurating the two-day Young Women Entrepreneurs Eid-Expo at a local hotel, she said such events provided a chance to highlight the role female entrepreneurs played in the economy. Samina said female entrepreneurs in the informal sector were largely invisible and needed attention. The chamber would provide all possible facilities to these business women, she added. Lauding the initiative of young female entrepreneurs, she said such initiatives should be encouraged by the business community and supported by the concerned government departments. Skills development in females was the key to economic well-being, and such creative events were imperative for the development of female entrepreneurs, she said. Samina said women were more focused on garments, fashion, jewellery and beauty salons, ignoring many sectors that badly needed their attention that include branding, advertising, e-marketing to boost businesses. Business women showcased garments, leather goods, jewellery, handmade embroidery, dresses, decoration pieces, traditional pots, and bridal accessories at the expo.
